Great recreational area!
Amistad National Recreation Area的点评
点评：What an enormous recreational area! This was our first time to this region. There were multiple campgrounds in the area as well as boat launches, etc. While the water levels have decreased (like all other bodies of water in the U.S.), so has the level of recreational activities such as boating, water skiing and fishing yet there were still a fair number of people out on the water in April. We enjoyed driving out to all the areas. My favorite place was the area west of Governor’s Landing (Spur 349)/(Laughlin AFB Recreational Area) which looked to be a military campground. They had maybe 12 paved RV sites and in the far corner was a sundry shop with high tables and chairs outside and string lights hanging from a patio. The store looked like it sold ice and ice cream and other snacks, etc. There were also fire pits that had “Texas” emblems on them. This area was very beautiful for watching the sunset. Very peaceful as nobody was around. There was also a boat launch below. Governor’s Landing also had an amphitheater where we watched a very good night sky program lead by a ranger from Big Bend National Park. There were also some nice hiking trails at Diablo East. They had nice interpretive signage, too, about the plants and wildlife.
We camped at San Pedro which is primitive. They had “outhouse” toilets and no running water. Several sites had very nice shade covers (ours didn’t). The campground, while primitive, is still close enough to a major city (Del Rio) with all of the amenities a traveler could want plus we had cell service the entire time at our campground which was a plus! Do be prepared to have a thick layer of caked dirt on your car by the time you leave, though! There’s a long dirt road leading in and out to the campground.
