点评:Beautiful area of town and as good a marina as any in northern England. If this was in Spain, France or Italy people would travel miles to visit. As it’s located in a run down industrial town, it is largely unknown and overlooked, which is both a shame as it deserves better, and a blessing, as I live here and so get to experience it everyday, largely undisturbed.
There is a great selection of restaurants and bars to suit all tastes and some decent cafes including HMT Watchful, a veteran small ship from Dunkirk, ( she saved900 men from the beaches) serving snacks, drinks and breakfasts.
Lovely walks around the marina (takes about 30 mins), checkout the boats or stop for food, drinks or to visit the nearby piers, beaches or the paid for attractions on the marina, HMS Trincamalee or the Royal Navy Museum or the farmers market.
The carpark is unfortunately to be paid for by, as in most tourist areas and this is incredibly annoying, but some restaurants will pay your parking if you eat there. Please follow the signs and don’t complain if you get a ticket as it is not the fault of the businesses who trade here. There is free parking in the museum car park and on the road outside of the north of the marina on the entrance road, use these or the car parks at Asda, the trading estate or the car parks opposite.
