Minuteman Missile National Historic Site的点评
点评：As Brits we were informed in the early 1980s about a government public information campaign called "protect and survive" on how to survive a nuclear war (e.g. building a fall-out shelter in your home) which would have been used in the event of a nuclear war. As part of generation X (just a teenager at the time) this scared me!
This small museum was fascinating although I already knew much of the history, especially from a UK perspective, but I was unaware of the extent of the nuclear deterrent (the number of silos) in the US. My Dad and I were unable to get on a tour of the launch control center, which was disappointing, but we looked at the silo and were very grateful the Americans were on our (the British) side!
The staff were very helpful and the small gift shop had a good range of souvenirs and books. Overall one of the highlights of our road trip.
