点评:On a cold, blustery March day in Kirkcudbright we found the Stewartry Museum open and went in to get out of the wind. What a surprise! It might just be the best local museum we've visited in Scotland. There's something here for everyone. Whether your interest is in the natural, agricultural, industrial, maritime, cultural or domestic heritage of an area, you'll find unexpected treasures, some impressive, some simple, some quirky. Everything is clearly labelled and explained. The stuffed animal collection upstairs can be missed, though is interesting as a relic of the long history of this wonderful museum, which dates back to 1879. The lady at the desk was welcoming, chatty and informative. Worth going to Kirkcudbright just for this (though there's a lot to see in this lovely town) - and it's free.
