点评:This estate and museum is free to the public because it’s run by the National Park Service. It’s a bit of a windy road and off the beaten path to this estate, but it’s in a park. There’s a parking lot that you can park for free as well as park restrooms in a building. However, you walk up this windy path to the estate and there’s benches along the way to sit and some placards to read When you get to the top. There is the estate of Friendship Hill right in front of you. Keep in mind there is another driveway that you can go up if you are handicap and need to park close to estate.
When we went in May, it was desolate we didn’t even think it was open, but there was two cars in the handicap parking lot so we went inside and there are park Rangers inside at the front desk and there’s a gift shop there and they tell you a little bit about what you’re going to see and it’s all self tour.
There’s exhibits in this museum and there’s several floors to see, and there is an elevator. And there are also restrooms in the building. There’s also a couple of orientation videos to watch as well as how the estate was set up when the Pennsylvania family lived inside of the mansion back in the day.
Worth a trip actually it was quite interesting and fun to learn about the history how Lafayette came from France and visited this estate.
