点评：The Terrace Houses of Ephesus, constructed between the 1st and 3rd century AD/CE, are one of the most noteworthy features of the Ephesus archaeological site. This complex of lavish residential villas was populated by citizens belonging to the city's upper class. The houses contain graffiti of gladiators, animals and other subjects, and there are also some beautiful mosaics.
While exploring the houses you will come across complex heating systems, indoor plumbing and private baths, all of which indicate the technological prowess of Roman society and the luxury that rich citizens could afford under Roman rule.
A total of seven housing units can be explored here and you'll have to go up several staircases in order to enjoy the whole site. It's worth noting that you'll have to pay an additional fee of €15 to enter as the houses are not included in the Ephesus archaeological site ticket. Therefore, if you're keen on exploring this site, I suggest you get the Aegean e-pass, which is rather expensive at €95, but it will grant you access once to Ephesus itself, the houses, Ephesus Museum, and the Basilica of St John. The combined ticket for these four attractions is €65, so if you're able to visit a few more heritage sites in the region during a seven day period (how long the pass is valid for), you could make significant savings.
