One of the top sights in Istanbul, though very pricey!

点评：Built in 1348 by Genoese traders who had a colony in the Galata district, Galata Tower offers magnificent views of the historic district of Karaköy and of the Bosphorus. Most of the tower was destroyed by an earthquake in 1509, but it was rebuilt by the Ottomans who used it as a dungeon throughout the 16th century. The tower was repaired on two more occasions after fires engulfed the building in the late 18th and 19th centuries and it only became a tourist attraction in 1967. At a height of 68 metres, you get a spectacular 360-degree view of Istanbul, though that comes at a steep cost. Since Turkey's economic crisis began in 2018, the cost of tickets has steadily increased and a single adult ticket will set you back €39.50. Given the significant cost of visiting Istanbul's other prime attractions such as Topkapi Palace, if you're planning on going to several sites, you might be better off getting the Istanbul Museum Pass, which costs €105 per person.
If it wasn't for the steep cost of the ticket, I would absolutely have given this attraction five stars, but as things stand, I think this policy of ripping off foreign tourists to compensate for Turkey's weak economy prevents me from doing so in good conscience.
