Quirky, Creepy, but Still Kind of Charming

点评：Watermouth Castle is definitely one of the more quirky attractions we’ve visited, and overall we had a really enjoyable day. The grounds and gardens are beautifully kept and make for a lovely walk, and the new play park was a big hit with the kids. Everything felt clean and tidy, and the staff were all very friendly and welcoming. For little ones, there’s lots of fun to be had – though I will say that my 4-year-old looked close to tears a couple of times, as some of the older attractions and dungeon areas are a bit outdated and on the scary side.
On the downside, the park is very hilly, which makes for a bit of a workout, and the price is steeper than other family attractions nearby. Some of the facilities could really do with modernising, and the water fountain show – while clearly a classic – felt very strange and dated, more confusing than entertaining! Certain parts inside the castle itself also feel quite old-fashioned and could definitely unsettle younger children.
That said, we had a good time overall. It’s clean, friendly, and has a unique charm, especially if you like something a little different. With a few updates, it could easily be a 5-star experience.
