点评:This is a rare free attraction in a city that seems to want to maximise the amount of money it can squeeze out of every tourist.
Impressive and beautiful it remains peaceful and queue free despite the lack of cost. The engineering feat of the dome itself, with the whole site being built by the renowned architect Sinan and a team of 2,000 in 7 years many 100’s of years ago (ie calculations made by a human mind!) is incredible.
The interior is particularly pretty with some stained glass windows in a style that is no longer able to be replicated anywhere (for some reason?).
This was part of our overall tour package and not an extra so we had a guide. I recommend at least reading up about it beforehand if you don’t have a guide.
Definitely well worth a visit and an easy walk to/from the Grand Bazaar. Currently scaffolding free (Sept 2025) unlike many other sights.
