点评:A delightful mostly moderate climb from White Moss car park (Wainwright's Route 1, a few more strenuous bits in places) with great all-round scenic views rewarding the effort. After the pretty flat path from the riverside to the well-trodden Loughrigg Terrace footpath, the climb starts there in earnest at the west end, where the well-constructed stepped path starts climbing back southeastwards (more or less overlooking Grasmere lake, lovely views).
Much of the climb from there is on the very good stepped path, but there are two or three short sections that are definitely a scramble - hands are needed and extra care is necessary placing feet! I tried to do the walk fairly quickly (I didn't want a parking ticket) so completed it with just around 5 minutes spent at the summit before returning. Time taken - just over two hours there and back. But I'd allow a minimum of two and a half or three hours if I did the walk again. No point in rushing up and down without good reason; the views are spectacular. It was busy on the sunny Friday I went, lots of walkers at the summit trig point.
Note: there are plenty of alternative paths to the summit, and several other good starting points, including the centre of Ambleside or Rothay park. Loughrigg terrace was just flat enough for one person using an electric scooter but I wouldn't recommend it for wheelchair users.
