点评：I had not been to Sunken Gardens since I was 8 years old and I just turned 69. The trip over 60 years ago was special because it was the only trip my parents took me on with just me, my mother and father. We lived in Daytona Beach which is not that far but in the 1960s in an un-air conditioned Rambler American it was quite the adventure. I returned from that trip with blurry black and white photos taken with a Brownie camera and toy sword. Fast forward 61 years and I was just as excited to see Sunken Gardens on my recent visit as I was as a third grader. Although now owned and operated by the City of St. Petersburg, the garden remains an awesome place where you will see a wide variety of palms and other native and exotic plants and trees some larger and older than anywhere else in Florida. The museum used to be the entrance to the gardens and I am sure I have a blurry black and white print of that building from years gone by. Now it tells the story of how the gardens came to be and is a wonderful dive into a part of Florida history. Most interesting, and a common theme for vintage Florida attractions, is a short video where family members of the gardens' founders explain how construction of a nearby highway diverted tourist traffic and nearly put the attraction of of business. Thankfully the gardens survived and are now well cared for by the City. Sunken Gardens is definitely worth a visit.
