点评:At first glance, this just seems to be a Tram museum. It certainly is that and it has the biggest collection of Trams you'll see anywhere but it's much more than that.
The site is constructed rather like a small period village (Hence the name!) and it's a bit like a mini Beamish Museum. You can catch trams up and down the site and there is the remains of a mine that was once on site a bit further up the hill, again similar to Beamish. But on top of this, there's something named the Woodland Walk.
This was a surprisingly highlight, it's a lovely area of Woodland with spectacular views over the Derbyshire countryside. It's also full of some amazing Wooden sculptures as well as some giant wooden games and other things for kids to play on. There's also a large picnic area and a small maze.
The Tram museum part is very impressive with an exhibition showing the history, a visitable workshop, a large exhibition hall and all the tram sheds full of the working trams.
For refreshments, there's a full working pub and some tea rooms (Being refurbished when I visited but it should be open in 2025.)
You can easily spend an entire day here and the time flies by.
I'd recommend it for anyone, even if you aren't an enthusiast, it's enjoyable rising on the trams and the site has something for everyone.
