A relaxing afternoon on Rathlin Island

点评：My husband and I were in Ballycastle at the weekend and decided to take a trip to the Island.There is a tourist information office at the top of the harbour in Bally castle as well as the ticket office for the ferry. The current price is £8 each way per adult so cost us £32 return. As were going on the 12 noon ferry ( they seemed to leave every hour) we decided to return on the 3 pm ferry. The 'Spirit of Rathlin', the name of our ferry took 40 mins to reach Rathlin Island. Everyone disembarked and went their separate ways. The island itself is very peaceful and quiet and the views are stunning. Its great for walking which is what my husband and I decided to do given the window of time we had. There are a few eateries (which we didnt go to) so I cant comment on, a small post office, a little museum and a little beach all around the harbour area and you can also hire bicycles. Rathlin Island is famous for its puffin colony and eventho we didn't see any, we bought a fridge magnet with a picture of one on it (£4.50) 🤐 so that was close enough😁. We did hear and see a variety of other birds while we were enroute to one of the three lighthouses the Island has. Making our way back to the ferry, we stopped in at the little craft/gift shop to buy a souvenir. Admittedly, the crafts and paintings were very nice, unfortunately the prices were a little high for me. I would add that warmer clothes could be worn while on the ferry as it can get rather cold and wet during the crossings.
