This was such a surprise. Situated next to Rochester Castle, which means you can visit both with little distance between. The entry is free, but there is a request for you to donate £5, which we gladly did, worth every penny.
You are greeted upon entry by friendly staff/volunteers who will tell you the history if you are interested... obviously that's a yes, and then you are free to wander. There are plenty of volunteers who are more than willing to answer any questions.
There is so much to look at, and I found myself wandering around with my mouth open in wonder at such a stunning cathedral, which contains some very old items, books, which are on show, dated from 1130, the Textus Roffensis being one such manuscript.
It has it's own cafe, which is spacious, and caters for those which are gluten intolerant. My wife is Coeliac, so was over the moon upon seeing an area set aside for preparation, plus actual cakes which were gluten free, not just the usual pre-packed items you find in most places. They've really thought about the importance of cross-contamination, using separate tongs etc.
All-in-all a fantastic cathedral, which is well worth a visit.
