点评:A surprise stop on my tour. The Highland Folk Museum is Britain’s 1st open air museum. There is no entrance fee but they accept donations. The Museum actively collects buildings representative of different aspects of Highland vernacular architecture. These are mainly ones in danger of being lost through demolition and include a smoke house, school, church, clockmaker’s workshop, croft house, post office, railway halt and joiner’s shop. The collections mainly reflect the social and rural way of life of the Scottish Highlands from the 1700s up to the mid 1900s. The main section that I wanted to visit was of a 1700 village with highland homes. Buildings are spread across the property. I took 1.5 hrs to see everything but it quickly reading some of the information. You can easily spend 2 to 4 hours here. There is a play area for the kids as well as bathrooms, a cafe and store. I love the Highland coos representing 3 colors in the pasture.
