点评：Recently went on the Springdale to Van Buren train ride and had a great time. We met at the station around 7:30 where there was a gathering crowd. Check in was super easy and we boarded right before 8 am the scheduled departure time. We sat in the car with individual tables, just my wife and I and were immediately offered coffee or juice as the train began to ramble down the track. Shortly there after, we were given a morning snack of a cake/muffin, yogurt, a small cup of fruit and a small cup of granola. Park, our concierge, was full of knowledge about various points of interest as we progressed down the track, giving us the history of the area, and bits of local anecdotes. We went in the middle of July so it was tough to see the back scenery at times as the trees were full of leaves, but there were areas were we could peer beyond and see all the mountains, and numerous streams. We arrived in Van Buren around 11 am and were given tips about various restaurants in the area, a free trolley that could pick us up in front of the depot, and what time to be back for the trip home. I recommend the trolley, the driver was knowledgeable about the area, and we got off around main street near the art buildings/opera house. The entrance to the art gallery is free and we enjoyed seeing local artists and their paintings, it was really fun to go into the opera house, adjoining the building and with no one else in there, we walked up on the stage pretending to be the star performers. The decor is classy and reminiscent of days gone by. If your into monsters, and the classic horror movies like vampires, Frankenstein, the my personal favorite, The Creature from the Black Lagoon, you owe it to your self to visit the Monsters on Main store. Vicki the proprietor and her husband, are connoisseurs of that genre and with her Boston accent, she will regal you with stories and insights to every monster known. She has a movie room that continuously plays one of the classics and soon they will have a Bed and Breakfast in the back of the shop for overnighters complete with movie posters and a large screen TV. The decor and furnishings are next level awesome. We ate at the Vault, a early 1900's bank turned restaurant, the pulled pork nachos were awesome. You get 10% off for showing them your train ticket. Returning to the depot, we watched the excitement as a main water line broke and the street in front of the depot was flooding! The ride home was nice, quite, a mid afternoon snack while listening to the sound of wheels on the tracks. You will pass over several high trestles and a long tunnel where they dim the lights and its totally black inside. In all, it was a great trip and I highly recommend it.
