点评：I took a full day tour of Les Saintes. Guadeloupe is an archipelago of 5 main islands. Les Saintes is an archipelago within an archipelago. It consists of 9 islands, only two of which are inhabited. We had to meet the guide at 6:30 a.m. Then we drove for about 1 3/4 hours to reach the ferry port. There we took a 20-minute ferry ride to Terre-de-Haut, the main island. Everything was so blue.
We then boarded a van for a tour of the island. We visited Plage de Grand-Anse, the longest beach on the island. No swimming is allowed. Note all of the seaweed. If you look on the left side, you can see Dominica in the distance.
Then we visited Fort Napoleon, including its exotic garden. Lunch was included in the tour. After lunch, we walked back to the main settlement along the shore of the bay. Then we had a little over an hour of free time to explore the main settlement. I liked the street art in which a man is wearing a Salako, the traditional hat of Les Saintes.
They have a beautiful 19th century church, L'église Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption. It has a beautiful sanctuary. The French words on the wall translate as "Salt of the Earth, Light of the World".
It was a long, but enjoyable day.
