点评:We started this trip with a 3 day pre-cruise extension in Prague. We fell in love with Prague the city as well as the people. Everyone was friendly and I didn't feel the least bit at risk at any time. For any beer lovers, this is a must see. Not only do they have many different brands, their claim to fame is "the only city where beer is cheaper than water". They weren't wrong. The cruise itself started at Regensburg with stops at Passau, Krems, Vienna and ending in Budapest. The scenery was amazing (except for the one day when the fog was so heavy we couldn't see the shoreline). The included excursions (one at every port) were well done with guides who were knowledgeable and fun to interact with (except for one). One of the included excursions took us to a working monastery. The specialty of the monastery was an apricot wine.
The longboat itself was comfortable, though the cabins are tiny. There's room for the bed and a small chair. The bathrooms, while also not large, have heated floors! That was great on cold nights.
There was so much to say about this cruise that I can't include everything. But, having said that, there is one thing that anyone planning a river cruise should know is there really isn't much to do onboard. They did offer an informative lecture every evening concerning the next stop, but beyond that there wasn't much to do. One evening there was a comedy opera which was quite fun. There was a trivia challenge 2 of the days and a pianist who played most evenings. If you don't choose to do one of the exursions, be sure to have a book. However, most of the stops were within walking distance of the towns and Christmas markets.
I have to end this review with a big compliment to Viking for their customer service. A couple examples: we had them book flights for us and we had a transfer in Paris. As we were getting off our flight we saw a rep with a sign having several names, including ours. She directed us to our gate to get us on our way. We would have been lost without that help. The hotel they set up for us in Prague had a dedicated Viking concierge to answer any questions we had and were able to direct us to some great food options.
