点评：The Oaks is an historic house from 1875 which was once in the centre of 5000 acres of apple orchards. Now it is in a car park for Walmart. Plenty of parking.
The house was built by Congressman Peel and now houses The Peel Museum, a collection Victorian relics in reconstructed Victorian rooms.
Interesting guided tour, which starts every 30 minutes from Tuesday to Saturday inclusive. regulator intervals. Loved the story behind the "dating candle". He had until the candle burnt down to woo the young woman of the house. The candle height could be set by the chaperone! The unsuitable had a shorter time.
The house is surrounded by a small botanical garden divided into distinctly styled garden rooms. Magnificent blooms of white hydrangeas.
The ice house is fascinating. Ice was cut from the Great Lakes and shipped to Arkansas to be stored in the underground chamber of he ice house for use throughout the summer.
