点评:Sadly, Le Polygone fails to deliver anything like a classy shopping experience. In fact I find it decidedly unpleasant. It could be so much better.
Admittedly, Montpellier does have a crime problem and the stores are understandably anxious to prevent theft. Unfortunately, that means you will be treated as a suspected shoplifter, rather than a valued customer, in many of the stores. But don't take my word for it. Visit Monoprix, exit through the self-service check-outs and you may end up feeling like an extra in a prison drama.
The centre is used as a public conduit between the Comedie and Antigone, even late at night when the shops are closed. The security guards are not too fussy about who they let in, so it can feel threatening later in the evening (think groups of men with dogs, youths on trottinettes etc.). The (very long) escalators frequently don't work. The upper lift has been out of action for months.
There is a large plaza outside the main entrance, which should be a lovely communal space for pedestrians and families. Unfortunately, it is used as a thoroughfare by food delivery cyclists, trottinetters and even motorcyclists. I never feel safe and have learnt to keep to the edges of the plaza to to avoid the frequent incivilities from food delivery riders in a hurry.
Some of the shops are nice.
