Newly expanded and renovated space. The Ames History Museum is an absolute gem!

点评：The newly renovated and expanded Ames History Museum is amazing! If you like historical buildings and learning about local history, you'll appreciate the new museum. There's a reading room where you can pull yearbooks from ISU and Ames High School from ages ago; my husband found his grandmother's picture in "The Bomb", ISU's yearbook, from the mid 1930's! There are also copies of old newspapers, business directories, phone books, books by Ames authors, etc. Upstairs there's a beautiful Gathering Hall (can be rented by the hour for luncheons, dinners, business meetings, etc.), a Changing Gallery with a beautiful quilt collection, and the Permanent Gallery with an Ames Timeline back to "the beginning", a replica of the Dinkey, any many other interesting displays. There's something for every age group and it's a perfect size - you could spend a meaningful hour or a half day. If you're in Ames, this is a must see!
