Windwardside的点评
点评：Saba was settled by people from England, Scotland, and Ireland. It changed hands many times, eventually becoming Dutch. Most of the people are Anglican (Episcopal). I visited the Joly Trinity Church, built n 1878.
The Harry L. Johnson Museum is in an old sea captain's cottage. I wrote a separate review of this excellent museum.(
The Saban Anole lizard is endemic to the island. Only the males have spots. The little guy in my photo is about 8 cm./3 inches long, plus about 10 cm./4 inches of tail.
As I was walking to my next stop, I passed a lovely mural on the wall of the Saba Life Center (a senior center). One of the residents saw me looking at the mural and came over to tell me more about it. It shows the island and its flora and fauna. Its title is "Saba . . .After Dark" and was designed by Joan Bourque.
My destination was the Saba Heritage Center. The focus of the center is on archaeology. There was also an art exhibition on the walls titled "Faces and Places of Saba--the Exhibition". The portrait in my photo does not depict any specific individual, but shows "Saba Character". It was painted in 2018 by Angelita Peterson.
Windwardside is a nice place to explore while you are on Saba. They also have two grocery stores and several restaurants.
