Fantastic site with fantastic views
坦波庙的点评
点评：Got a taxi directly to Ollantaytambo although bus and train are an option. Because we were travelling as a family of five it was only marginally more expensive to go by private taxi as opposed to the total bus fare. Taxi driver agreed to 200 Soles to take us there, wait for 2 and a half hours and then take us back to our apartment. Ample time unless you want to climb up to the highest architectural sites across from the main site.
Journey from Cusco was approx 90 mins.
Used the General Tourist ticket to access the site. Please purchase beforehand in Cusco.
Toilets on site. Entire area surrounding the entrance is taken up by restaurants, cafes and market stalls selling all kinds of souvenirs.
This site is wholly impractical for wheelchair users to explore in any meaningful way but certainly not to enjoy the awe-inspiring vistas.
Like most tourist sites in Peru there is no information on the archaeological site itself so make sure you do your research prior to your visit.
It is perfectly accessible to all ages but I would certainly recommend very close supervision of young children due to the heights and unguarded drops. The site involves lots of stairs, some of which are uneven so take your time and follow the signs.
The site is reputed to be fully Incan but you will find many signs of much older polygonal stonework, along with the classic 'nubs' found on other archaeological sites throughout the world.
Visit with an open mind and decide for yourself.
The 'Temple of the Sun' can be found at the very top of the site.
Take your time on the climb up and you will be rewarded with some truly fantastic vistas.
