点评:I spent five days supporting a student with autism on the Young Darwin Scholarship at Slapton Ley and shared accommodation with them for the duration of the course. While not of 3* hotel standard, I found most aspects of the Centre entirely acceptable and the room and bed very comfortable. The only negative issue was the en suite bathroom which was inadequately ventilated and hence stayed damp all the time.
What was most impressive was just how helpful all the staff were, particularly as I had to ask for various "extras" necessitated by the needs of the person I was supporting. The food was mostly ok, some really tasty, but the rubbery eggs that featured in the breakfast selection could have been better. The beautiful surroundings more than made up for any of the minor shortcomings of the Centre.
We were collected and returned to Totnes railway station by minibus and I could only admire the people driving these vehicles the 11 miles along the narrow lanes with frequent stopping and occasional reversing to give way to other road users. I found the whole experience to be most enjoyable and would do it again without hesitation.
