点评:An hour and 45 minutes from Bucharest is this spectacular salt mine. We visited here as part of a two stop trip (Snagov Monastry was the other stop) which breaks the journey up nicely.
Upon arrival there was a bit of a queue to get in, this is mainly because there are minibuses taking you underground so you have to wait for them. This itself seems to be a neverending journey through dark winding tunnels, you then arrive at the entrance and take a small tunnel to the main chamber.
I have seen loads of photos of this mine but still let out a little 'wow' when we set foot in there, its just the sheer scale of the place. The main attraction is the site itself but there are small displays throughout each area of the sites history and some tools/equipment.
There are a few activities inside, little go karts, table tennis, a small cinema type experience, which mean theres something for everyone, even a shop selling salt.
Its a long trip from Bucharest but if you are staying for more than a couple of days I heartily recommend it. The price? Its Romania you really dont need to worry about prices.
