Lovely gardens and top lunch location

点评：Lovely grounds to wander round and attractive gardens, ponds. Tearoom is beautiful with space to sit in the gardens or inside and a delicious display of cakes plus lunch items. I went one weds with my partner and did the full walk round the lakes and on to the productive veg gardens. It felt like a proper ‘gardener’s garden’ and as my dad is a keen gardener we took him a few weeks later on a Sunday planning to have lunch there too. We did a shorter circuit as he is 85 but found it very manageable as it’s not too far between main garden, lily pond and tea room.
The tea room is outstanding - far better than national trust standard and that’s pretty good! Only problem was most of the lunch offerings had sold out by the time we went for latish lunch. As it’s only open weds and sun I can see they need to use food in one day but although less choice, we had delicious freshly made sandwiches and the smoked trout pate between us sat in the gardens and all were excellent. Need to do lunch earlier next time!
