点评:Carnasserie Castle is a hidden gem—quiet, hauntingly beautiful, and steeped in history. Though in ruins, the structure still stands proudly, offering a glimpse into 16th-century Scottish life. We loved being able to explore freely at our own pace, climbing the old stone staircase to take in sweeping views of the Argyll countryside.
There’s something magical about how peaceful the site is—no crowds, no noise, just nature and history all around you. The architecture, especially the details in the stonework and surviving features like the fireplace and window frames, is remarkable.
If you enjoy off-the-beaten-path historical sites with incredible photo opportunities and a sense of solitude, Carnasserie Castle is absolutely worth a stop.
It took us 20 min to walk to it. It’s slightly uphill from parking lot. Once at castle it’s very steep up that hill and steps to the top of the hill to the castle. Bring an umbrella!
Able bodied walkers only. Very rugged walk and steep
