点评:One of the most beautiful and famous buildings in Poznan is Poznan City Hall ,a wonderful looking building constructed in 1253 but practically rebuilt in the 1500's to leave us with an outstanding building that's a great example of Gothic style architecture, one of the wonderful legends attached to this building is Koziolki Poznankie Ratusz ( Poznan Goats ,City Hall ) .
Legend has it that while preparing a feast of roast venison for dignitaries of the city hall a chef called Pietrek took his eye of the meal being roasted and subsequently burnt it,in a state of panic he ran to a nearby field were he grabbed two goats to use as replacements, sensing their demise the goats escaped and ran up the stairs of the city hall and out onto the clock faced tower were they butted heads much to the amusement of the crowds below and particularly the mayor of Poznan ,a man called Voivode who let the goats live,he actually ordered engineer Bartel Wolff in 1551 to construct a pair of mechanical goats which from their day of construction have butted heads at midday to the amusement of still passing locals and tourists ,its most definitely well worth checking out these mechanical goats if you're in the area or planning a holiday to Poznan and easy to locate on Stary Rynek ( Old Market Square ).
