点评：We found this place by accident a while back, but didn't have the opportunity to visit until today. It's located off the beaten path, but close to the downtown area of Athens. As far as museums go, it's not all that large, but it is jam packed with uniforms, weaons, medals, and other artifacts from the Revolutionary War through the Gulf War. The exhibits are very well laid out, and a good portion of the uniforms from the WWII era to the present are from Alabama veterans. It is very easy to occupy a majority of the day taking in all of the items. The museum even houses a section of the hull from the USS Arizona! And there is a good-sized library to boot. My wife and I were the only visitors all morning, so we pretty much had the run of the place. One of the volunteers, Mr. Bob Utecht, checked on us periodically while we explored the exhibits, and he was a wealth of information! We have been fortunate to have visited a number of military museums, including the Naval Aviation Museum in Pensacola, FL; the National Infantry Museum at Fort Benning, GA ; the USS Hunley in Charleston, SC ; the USS Nautilus and the Submarine Force Museum in Groton, CT, as well as others - this was as enjoyable, and as well done, as any of them! We fortunately live just an hour away, so we will definitely be back! There is no charge for admission, but donations to keep the museum are gratefully accepted. The museum was voted one of the best attractions in northern Alabama, and it is very easy to see why. If you come to the Huntsville area, you need to take at least a couple of hours and visit this museum ; it's less than 3 miles west of I-65, and about 30 minutes from the Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville.
