点评：Each member of our family of four paid the NZD 100 International Visitor Conservation and Tourism Levy (IVL), in addition to the NZeTA application fee.
The visitor center was scheduled to close at 4:00 p.m. on December 24, 2025. We tried hard, arrived on time and reached the center at 3:45 p.m., but the “Closed” sign was already up.
Disappointment was an understatement, as we had hoped to obtain information about the crossing. A passersby told us that parts of the route were closed for repairs. We needed authoritative information about the route and weather.
Around 3:55 p.m., a ranger "escaped" through the front door and "helpfully" told us to google the information.
The holiday was approaching, but we were no virus.
