Tongariro National Park Visitor Centre (Whakapapa Visitor Centre)的点评
点评：Tongariro National Park is stunning & so worth a visit in the North Island! We had plans for the Alpine Crossing hike- but a massive storm rolled thru the entire week we stayed in the area & the hikes for the alpine crossing were cancelled for multiple days.
We chose to do Taranaki Falls paired with Waitonga Falls hike as our back up game plan! Both hikes were very beautiful & can be safely done during a rainy day (unlike the alpine crossing) so we enjoyed this instead! It was a VERY wet hike but was doable in the weather. The waterfall was viewable even with all the mist, fog & down pouring rain.
So many people come to Tongariro National Park JUST for the alpine crossing but forget the park has so many other beautiful hikes worthy of exploring. The weather was a damper on our alpine hike plans but we felt blessed to experience this trail as we would have missed it if the weather allowed for the alpine.
Don’t forget to give the other trails some time as we did! Just as stunning!
