点评:A fun and educational way to spend a couple of hours.
Do you ever wonder what's inside those large buildings that you'll often see near a dam? Here's your chance. BC Hydro has transformed the once-functional Powerhouse at Stave Falls into a museum/vistors center. The building is located between Stave and Hayward Lakes where you'll find parks, trails and picnic areas, and the building still contains the generators and equipment that "made" the electricity for British Columbians from 1912 to 2000. There are also areas dedicated to household items, tools, vehicles and pictures showing the history of the local area. Some interactive displays will keep the kiddos entertained.
You can take yourself on a self-guided tour, or rent audio guides. Be aware during the school year, you'll probably run into a school tour - if you find a busy area just bypass it and return when it is quieter.
Don't forget to go out on the outside patio where you'll find seating and a nice overlook of the outflow water area as well as a very picturesque anchored boat.
There is no cafeteria here but the gift shop sells chips and candy. Washrooms are located on both floors. The staff are super friendly and helpful and willing to chat at all times. Lots of parking.
If you come all this way to visit the Powerhouse, absolutely consider visiting one of the nearby recreation areas - bring a picnic lunch and enjoy the surroundings.
