Hot springs only part of a spectacular adventure

点评：We visited the hot springs as part of an 8 hour fishing and sightseeing charter from Tofino. Tonquin Charters were first rate, our captain Johnny said we should leave early at 7 am to beat the potential crowds at the hot springs. A beautiful 1.5 hour boat ride through sheltered islands with spectacular scenery and wild life. The hot springs are managed by a local First Nation who will collect $30 a head (cash) at hot springs cove dock. A new well built cedar board walk leads you up and down through a 45 minute west coast forest experience. We were the first there and it was quiet and tranquil but be prepared for a few steps, accessibility is an issue. You arrive at the change structure with pit toilets and two change booths. The hot springs run under the board walk and over a small water fall leading to the hot springs. The path to the pools is approximately 40 feet of uneven, slippery rocks and shoes of some kind are highly recommended. The pools were two crevices with the first filled with kelp (tidal wash) and the second the most comfortable. This was large enough for our party of three. We stayed 45 minutes and that was long enough. We past about 20 people on the walk back and that would have been crazy in those steep, uneven, tiny pools making early arrival the best option. It’s expensive to get here so enjoy the boat or float plane ride, the board walk is beautiful and go fishing to make it worth it because the hot springs alone are not worth it.
