点评:On a gray day in February, my friend and I decided to tour Panama City Beach before the crowds roll in.
To get ourselves oriented, we stopped first at the inviting PCB Visitor's Center, where you are warmly greeted and offered helpful advice. After a bit of retail therapy, we headed over to the coast and easily parallel-parked into a free space along the beach.
The Panama City Beach City Pier-53, a.k.a. Russell Fields City Pier, which extends more than 1500 feet into the green waters of the Gulf of Mexico, offers wonderful opportunities to fish, stroll, relax, and recharge. Even on a gray day, the views of the Emerald Coast are spectacular.
When there are not many people around, you can always count on the local inhabitants, such as pelicans, to greet you. The friendly bird we encountered was quite happy to pose for selfies and several other photos.
Adjacent to the pier on the beach is a dog park, where several different breeds were frolicking with each other.
If you find yourself in PCB, it is definitely worth paying the nominal fee to walk out onto this well-maintained structure.
