点评:The moment you descend into the crater in a safari vehicle, you are immediately immersed in the wild world of African nature. Ngorongoro impresses from the very first minutes. Just a few hours of driving around are enough to see an incredible variety of animals—both predators and herbivores, as well as birds. A real zoo, but entirely natural—just as Bernhard Grzimek described it decades ago.
Even on the way down, you might spot wildlife, like buffaloes. And the views are breathtaking! Rolling hills, open plains, Lake Magadi, all enclosed by a towering circular wall at least 600 meters high. The only thing to do here is drive back and forth, spotting as many animals as possible. Lions rest right by the road, rhinos graze near the lake, and there are countless antelopes, zebras, and elephants. It’s hard to believe so many animals fit into such a small area.
My recommendation for travelers—stay at a lodge near the crater and spend at least a couple of days here. The views from the rim down into the crater are truly special, unmatched by almost anything else. This is the largest volcanic caldera on Earth!
Ngorongoro is an experience you’ll remember for a lifetime.
