点评：To call Jemaa El-Fnaa the beating heart of Marrakech is an understatement — it’s a full-blown assault on the senses in the best possible way. The sounds, the sights, the smells — it truly has everything going on!
We stayed in a riad just off the main square, and being able to see it from our rooftop was amazing. Watching how it changes throughout the day really showed just how alive this place is. In the morning, things are relatively calm, with a handful of vendors setting up and a more relaxed pace.
By mid-afternoon, though, the transformation begins — and by evening, the square becomes the largest open-air kitchen you’ve ever seen. Smoke fills the air, the lights come on, and rows of street kitchens pop up serving every kind of Moroccan dish imaginable. It’s busy, loud, and chaotic… but that’s all part of the charm.
A quick word of advice: be cautious about engaging with snake charmers or animal handlers unless you’re comfortable paying for photos or interactions — it’s part of the experience, but best to know upfront. And when the restaurant touts approach you in the evening, a friendly “No thank you” and a smile usually does the trick.
If you’re someone who gets easily overwhelmed by large crowds or noise, visit earlier in the day for a more laid-back experience. But if you’re chasing the full Marrakech energy, come back after sunset — that’s when Jemaa El-Fnaa truly comes alive.
