点评:Jemaa el-Fna is an absolute sensory explosion. You must visit during both the day and at night when the square truly comes to life with music and endless energy. You will not need a guide. That's coming from a single mother with an 11 year old daughter.
Animal welfare is questionable here. I wasn't a fan of monkeys on chains and snakes subdued by what ever calming concoction they had been given. But, it was a must see and an experience unlike any other. The best approach is to skip the horse carriages outside, plunge right into the crowd, and just enjoy getting lost in the incredible magic of the souks.
Avoid anyone dressed in local attire. Do not openly take photos unless you are happy to pay the subjects.
When you need a break from the chaos, escape to a rooftop restaurant for a peaceful view overlooking the square. For a quick logistics tip, you can find a paid toilet at Café de France, so keep some loose change handy. Also, keep in mind that wine is very hard to find around here. Embrace the hustle, enjoy the experience, and soak it all in!
