点评:This was a schoolfriends group holiday. We visited the Brewery as a birthday treat for one of us. He enjoyed it immensely. The visit lasted approximately two - two and a half hours.
We were given a wonderfully factual talk by a charming lady who knew her beer and all the facts. We remained seated for the talk but were shown interesting things -
eg. the barley in different stages of the malting process, from light to dark. We were allowed to taste the grains and asked if we could discern the difference in flavour as it became more and more malted. We were then given tastes of the beers which that barley produced. This was all very interesting and quite yummy. If you're not a beer drinker, you might not appreciate the tasting quite as much! We were shown pictures of the hopfields in the surrounding countryside.
We were also told the history of the brewery, from its humble beginnings to the present flourishing state.
We were then shown some of the "barrels"? if that is the right name, where the beer is fermented. Yes, we actually got up and walked a couple of yards to see these. It was not arduous.
After the talk we went down into the lounge area and had a few pints of the beers.
The whole afternoon was completely enjoyable. The staff were professional and pleasant. Our guide was exceptional. Well done to her.
