Historical Church and Artifacts Within! Be patient and Look with Your Eyes!
Black Church (Biserica Neagra)的点评
点评:Dear Travelers and Tourists,
Before you judge the church based on its name alone and wonder why the entire church is not Black, you must check the history. In 1689 there was a horrendous fire that destroyed parts of Brasov and the church quite extensively. If you visit the church's website, it details how the roof collapsed because of the blaze.
The church is full of beauty and boasts a 600 year history. The visitors who write that it is nothing special and boring, have missed what is quickly noted regarding the interior. There is a large collection of oriental rugs/tapestry. The church is large and spacious. There are a number of paintings and little nooks to duck into and look at. There is a burial ground for nobility on the inside. Aesthetically, yes, the walls are "basic", but one needs to look beyond that quick glance and carefully examine what else is there.
The fee to enter is NOT extravagant and I fail to grasp why some travelers take issue with it. Fees help with upkeep and I am happy to pay them. There are plenty of free churches to visit in Romania (as well as other countries) and I donate to them out of good will and the knowledge of helping contribute in my small way to the preservation and upkeep so others like me can go and explore.
