点评：We stayed in the newly renovated East Wing apartment at Drumlanrig Castle for two nights at the end of the summer holidays. It is a beautiful, warm place to stay.
The bedrooms are cosy and comfortable. One of the double rooms has a shower with an ensuite while the other has a small dressing room / walk-in wardrobe. The showers had great pressure and plenty of hot water.
It can be difficult to know what's included in a self-catering apartment - they're all a bit different. The East Wing had lovely handsoap, but no shower gel or shampoo. There was a hairdryer, iron, and ironing board. There was kitchen roll, dishwasher tablets, and some cleaning supplies. The kitchen had everything you might need, including a cafetiere, microwave, and proper wine glasses! There's a washing machine and sink in the mudroom.
The apartment has a lovely view of the estate, and the kids enjoyed watching the sheep outside their window and the view of the castle from the top of the spiral staircase to the bedrooms. One of the highlights of our stay was the adventure playground and exploring the beautiful grounds.
It was too warm to light the fire, but it would be perfect for colder weather. There were a couple of board games and sweets left for us, which was a lovely start! Bring wellies, good food, books, and board games, and you'll have a wonderful break.
