点评:Magical, the moai statues were deservedly finalists for the New 7 Wonders of the World. Almost did not travel though, as was put off by the ruling that since covid you can’t visit the main sites without an official guide. However, guides certainly enhance the experience, as with exception of Orongo there is no information at the individual sites and without the rule the roads would probably be jammed with hire cars (there is not any public transport, and the few taxis are expensive). Be careful in guide selection, some charge eye-watering amounts. You need to book, there are no guides waiting at the gates like in some countries. The choice is with a minibus size group, or more individually with the guide normally driving you around in their car. You will need to prepurchase a ticket for the National Park. All the important sites can be covered in 2 days. Then if feeling active enjoy cycling, hiking (again often needing a guide), visiting the caves (definite guide), etc., or simply lazing on the beach at Anakena or shopping for souvenirs in the artisan markets in Hanga Roa & watching the sunset.
