Castletown House and Parklands的点评
点评：I visited Castletown House during Heritage Week for a guided tour of the archive and, separately, the house. Both guides were excellent - the archivist Nicola provided a comprehensive overview of the archive collection, along with detailed and witty discussion of a selection of individual objects.
Fergus, the guide who brought us around the house, provided a nuanced, knowledgable and highly entertaining account of the Connolly family and Castletown House, situating this important site within a wider historical and political context.
Visiting Castletown during Heritage Week highlighted the importance of finally resolving ongoing disruption caused by access issues, so that this site of major significance can be properly maintained and fully appreciated by visitors once again. I was particularly disappointed to see that the Temple, an important neo-classical folly, was covered in graffitti.
