点评:I visited on the weekend as one of a group of descendants of Canadian Lancaster aircrew who served overseas in World War Two. The museum operates one of only two airworthy Lancasters still in existence (the other is in England) and the sight and sound of the Lancaster on the runway and in the air is one I’ll never forget.
We were guided on this visit by Frank, who is a walking encyclopedia of the aircraft and the crews who built and flew them. Frank is just one of many dedicated volunteers who make this museum a treasure. Everyone we met was friendly, knowledgeable and helpful and learning some of the finer details of flying the Lancaster from pilot Leon was a treat. Thank you to Al, Frank and Leon for making sure our group had an amazing visit!
I have visited this museum many times and there is always something new to experience, this time a collection of interactive life-size avatars to help bring the past to life. The museum’s café is a great place to grab a snack and watch the aircraft come and go and the gift shop is excellent. If you haven’t visited the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum yet, do it! It is an absolute gem!
