Beltana Town的点评
点评：Beltana nestles into the Flinders Ranges amidst the rugged beauty. It is an historic town that has a difference in that Beltana still has residents amongst the ruins of the past. The original usage of ruins is well documented with signage. The town was originally settled in the 1850’s and 1860’s.
It is easily accessed by car from the Outback Highway on a sealed road into the town. We were impressed by the facilities available including camping by the Assembly together with showers at a nominal fee. Acknowledgment to the traditional owners of the land - Adnyamathanha People focussing on their attachment to the land with a monument overlooking Warrioota Creek.
The cemetery is well worth visiting as is the Railway Station. We spent several hours exploring the area and would recommend visiting the town. We were corrected by locals in pronouncing the name of the town. We were used to Beltana (Beltarna) but is actually Beltana with the “tan” rhyming with “ran”. We did master it!
Other than toilet facilities, there are no shops so it is essential to carry food and drink, remembering to either to use the bins provided or take it away with you. Don’t forget your good walking boots/shoes to walk around the town. Beltana has residents so be respectful of their properties.
