点评:After our 2 days visit to JZG, we stayed a night at Grand Rezen in Chuanzhusi. Our prearranged driver came to fetch us at 8 am and our half an hour journey passed through a 8 km tunnel. We were grateful that it was sunny when we emerged from the tunnel. Arriving at 8.30 am in Huanglong cable car station meant we got in line very quickly. We booked the up and down cable cars with the sightseeing bus through trip.com. It was free entry for 60 years and above. Near to the turnstile, we were kindly guided down some steps to a ticket office to get our cable car tickets after showing our passports. We were immediately allowed to enter and got into the cable car which seats 6 people comfortably. At the top, we decided to walk to the viewing platform for the panoramic views of the snow-capped mountains. It snowed the night before and fortunately we could walk along the gunning sack material laid along the plank path. It would be very slippery and impossible ro walk without it. We decided not to walk back to take the sightseeing bus. The trail was flat with occasional steps. However we took sometime to walk as we were careful. One path up to the 5 colored pools was not opened and we walked many steps to reach the temple in front of the 5 colored pools. There is a circular plank path to view this highlights with the upper higher path and the lower path just beside the pools. Both paths offer different view points. After resting at the temple for a refreshment break, we started our walk to admire the 5 colored pools. It was 10 am and some snow had melted and so it was easier to navigate at the viewing platforms. Fortunately the path next to the temple leading to the sightseeing bus stop was opened now and many tour groups were coming this way. The disadvantage about taking the sightseeing bus is that the bus stop was higher and involved climbing many steps to reach it. I noticed that both the return sightseeing bus and down cable car ticket can be bought at the top. We took the sightseeing bus back followed by the cable car going down. We were surprised that by the time we came down, the queue for cable cars was extremely long. We walked about 150 m to the free bus on opposite side of the road to go to the main entrance. We planned to see the initial few ponds near the entrance but we were deterred by the steps. I am amazed that my knees actually improved with all the steps taken because I did it slowly with a hiking stick. After that we took a taxi to Songpan Yunjingwan hotel for a chicken hotpot lunch. The owner kindly drove us back to the entrance of Huanglong to meet our prearranged driver to fetch us to Songpan to stay a night before going back to Chengdu. I loved staying in Donglaisheng hotel in Songpan Ancient city to soak up the unique cultures of the Tibetan, Qiang, Hui and Han people.
