The Monon Connection Museum的点评
点评：The museum has an outdoor section (several old rail cars and heavy equipment, some open to explore) and an indoor section (guided tour, roughly every hour, loosely connected to the restaurant).
The guided tour is a must. From the lobby you think you are seeing an obsessive collection of a few things (bells! lanterns! silverware! keys!) , but that is only one corner of it.
Inside there are four main rooms. The prize is Flagler's (partner of Rockefeller and builder of the Florida Coast railway) personal rail car -- the very definition of opulence, perfectly preserved. There is a high-quality model railway setup, a depot stocked with authentic items (abandoned as the Illinois Central slowly died), and handcars and track repair machinery.
Our guide, Mark, was personable and helpful. We greatly enjoyed the whole tour.
The museum is 2 miles north of Monon, and our GPS didn't guide us well. Look for the huge black crane leaning out over the road, or for the Whistle Stop Restaurant.
