点评:Absolutely MASSIVE
Petra is not just the Siq/ Treasury
We walked 10 miles on our first day (Siq, Treasury, Royal Tombs, Monastery, back to main entrance)
BEAUTIFUL rocks
The best sandstone colors I have ever seen
Insanely beautiful site
TREMENDOUS Roman/Greek influence !!!! I did not know this......
Check out the free Petra Museum at the visitors center prior to entering Petra
The only con is. I have a permanent disability. The staff would not give me a disability ticket. I am filing a police report and a lawsuit against them.
I am taking this so seriously..
Nowhere at the Ticket Office doesn't mention disability tickets are free. Only after you buy your ticket, on the back of the ticket, and very small fine print, doesn't mention disability tickets are free.
I went back, requesting a refund, showing them all my proofs of disability, and they denied me ---saying they don't offer refunds
When I tried to take a picture of the gentleman that denied me/the accountant manager, he ran away and hid… Very shady business practices
Furthermore, the ticket says "disability passed offered to those with special needs"
If you google the definition of special needs, it says mental, physical or physiological conditions. All of these apply to me.
The women at the visitor center was trying to say disability passes are only offered for wheelchair users--- nothing on the fine print says wheelchair users - it only says special needs
When I told her about the definition of special needs, she looked me up and down and said nothing looks wrong with you
Pure discrimination. Pure legal standing for a lawsuit.
PS. The horse ride says it is free ( from the main entrance to the start of the Siq). But the horse owner, as other reviews state, will aggressively demand a tip of at least five Jordanian dinar. If you do not give them this tip/if you want to give them less, they try to call the police on you and will not let you leave.
A tip is a tip. You can't "require" a certain amount !...
Lastly- Petra by Night was fine / quiet walking in.
But on the way out, they clean up as you exit... it is AWFUL.
Huge noisy trucks rattle down the bumpy road, echoing through the canyon as you walk out
Workers are slamming the sand bags, shaking the candle out....
While tens of people are still exiting
It is a very noisy, stressful, far from peaceful experience
Why clean up when people are still there?????
