点评:Well-known for hosting international peace conferences in the early 20th century since it opened in 1913, the Peace Palace today houses a host of important judicial bodies, the most familiar being the principal judicial body of the United Nations, ie. the International Court of Justice. Designed in the Neo-Renaissance style and funded by Carnegie's philanthropic legacy, the imposing building is architecturally impressive in its own right despite being anchored by 2 asymmetrical towers of differing heights. However, it's a shame that one can only admire the building from outside the heavily-guarded gate as the place is not accessible to the public without paid advance guided tour bookings. If visiting Madurodam miniature park is in your itinerary, you can also see a replica of the Peace Palace there, albeit at a modest 1:25 scale! An important building in the context of global peace and justice, but other than that, there isn't much to rave about here.
