Siskiyou Smokejumper Base Museum的点评
点评：Excellent “gem” of a museum! 100% authentic – the grounds, the buildings, the displays, and our tour guide – who is an actual smokejumper and Vietnam Vet who served 17 years as a smokejumper, including service at the Siskiyou base. I concur with previous reviewers that Mr. Gary Buck is “a living legend!”
This type of opportunity to view history so up close and personal is rare.
The tour is free. However, donations are greatly appreciated. They also sell some t-shirts and souvenirs to cover costs. (bring some cash in case their internet is down)
Give yourself about 1-1.5 hrs depending on how many questions you have.
If no one’s at the museum during posted hours, just cal the phone number o the door, and volunteer will be there shortly to show you around.
Don’t miss this amazing opportunity if you are traveling on US Route 199 near Cave Junction OR.
P.S. Don't miss seeing the amazing "Moon Tree" growing on the grounds! The story involves an astronaut and seeds brought back "from the moon."
