点评:I spent one day in Kamakura, and did one circle on walking: Kita-Kamakura -> Engaku-ji -> Jochi-Ji -> Daibutsu hiking course (detour to Zeniarai Benten) -> Daibutsu (Kotoku-in) -> Hase-dera -> Kamakura Station -> Tsurugaoka Hachiman-gu -> Kencho-ji -> Kita-Kamakura.
The Daibutsu hiking course from Jochi-Ji to Daibutsu is about 5km, suitable for all ages but you do not take it too casually. It requires some stamina, especially if you want to complete the whole circle with plenty time to see all the sights in one day. The trail end at the Daibutsu is very steep, but you will be descending it if you do this counter-clock wise circle as I did.
Hase-dera has a very nice deck where you can enjoy food/drink with a great view of the Kamakura beach.
From Hase-dera is another 8KM back to Kita-Kamakura, but it is pretty much flat street walking (expect the climb to Tsurugaoka Hachiman-gu as well as a uphill road between Tsurugaoka Hachiman-gu and Kencho-ji .
I really enjoyed the hiking, and get a good appreciation why Kamakura Shogunate chose this place for its capital - from wikipedia: "The town is surrounded to north, east and west by hills, and is a natural fortification easily defensible"
